TAMPEP joins sex workers globally in mourning the tragic murder of Paloma, a 38 year old trans woman, a Brazilian migrant, sex worker. Sex worker-led group OTRAS have released this statement [Spanish text] outlining the reality of a series of harmful policies based that curated the events and pressures leading to Paloma’s murder in 2019. TAMPEP extends our unwavering support to Paloma family, community and friends at this time and calls on networks, organisations and politicians working in the area of human rights, LGBTQ rights and sex workers’ rights, to fight harder, more strategically and more in partnership to promote and defend the rights of all sex workers against a backdrop of a continued repressive force aiming to restrict our right to work, to cross borders and to be protected by the law.
